A DAY AT CRAFTHER FALL MARKET
When attending a market for the first time, especially if you're adventuring solo, it can be equal parts exciting and overwhelming. Why I love craftHER Market, is because even though each season seems to get bigger, it also becomes more curated, adding intentional value for consumers. I felt genuinely encouraged and took away useful, educational nuggets from the panelists covering topics from small business promotion to broadening your artistic vision.
One quote stood out to me from TK Tunchez, "Bring the economy back to the hands of makers. If you can shop local, do it!" It's such a simple phrase and yet if we all began to put this into practice, our community economy would radically change. Each panelist discussion sparked more and more conversation amongst my friends as we explored the market, which filled our Sunday with such joyful purpose and intention.
Organizations like Boss Babes ATX and Laissez Fair are creating more opportunities for Austin locals to invest in our community economy when artists and makers aren't available (yet!) through traditional brick and mortar stores. I was able to find some incredible pieces this past weekend for ACL, helping achieve my own personal goal of resisting Target, H&M, and Forever 21! If you're still looking for those last minute items to add to your lineup and something catches your eye, many of these makers will meet you in person to deliver your purchased product in time for ACL.
Whether you're interested in unique accessories to help your festival look stand out from the crowds or breathable fabrics that transition from day to night, if you can shop local, DO IT! ;)
